The O Antiphons are vespers (evening Prayers) which were first used in sixth century in Italy. They are originally written in Latin but many in England will be most familiar with the words from the advent hymn O Come, O Come, Immanuel. There are seven O Antiphons all together which would normally be used for evening prayers from the 17th December till the 23rd December.
We will be using each O Antiphon on each Sunday of Advent and the Wednesday in-between from the 28th November till the 19th December 2021. We have created a short video that includes a verse from the hymn, set readings and a reflection from some of those who are members of BFX and others friends.
These reflections come from people with differing faith positions and life backgrounds to offer a wide view for us in this advent season.
