The Art of Waiting

Christmas this year will be very different. For many it will still be the family occasion of joy and celebration.  For all of us it will also be tinged with sadness.  A year like no other, where we have missed out on those birthdays and weddings. Not seen family and friends. Lost in so many ways.

These images and words come from the Christmas story. That of a young family forced to travel far from home. To bring a child into the world in the most difficult of circumstance. To flee the threat of violence. This often told story contains all those moments we feel in life. Joy, pain, hope, sadness, peace, anger, fear and love. There are questions about the future, about loss and pain that go unanswered. It is a story we know but also don't know.

It is also a story that has inspired art throughout the centuries. These ten images are part of that tradition and on some you will find a QR code that give you some more details about the image or a more immersive experience..

Remember that whatever the questions this Christmas might ask of you. Whatever you may feel or think there is always hope. Linked below are some numbers that you can call any time if you need to talk.
